Wella Files for US IPO

Global investment firm KKR initially acquired a 60% stake ⁠in Wella from Coty ⁠in 2020 in a $4.3 billion deal.

Wella Company, owner of OPI, filed ⁠for a US IPO on Monday, according to reports.

Global investment firm KKR initially acquired a 60% stake ⁠in Wella from Coty ⁠in 2020 in a $4.3 billion deal, which included Wella, Clairol, OPI and ghd brands, as previously reported in Happi.

The hair ⁠and ‌nail care firm has ⁠a presence in over 100 countries, employing over 6,000 people, with offices in New York City, Calabasas, Ca., London, Geneva, ‌Switzerland and an R&D facility in Germany.

The Happi Top 50 Company intends to list on the NYSE under “WELA.” Goldman Sachs, BofA Securities, KKR and JP Morgan were among the underwriters to the ‌offering. In June, The Wella Company added past JP Morgan executive Jing Ulrich to the company’s board as non-executive director. The company said her insights and industry perspective will strengthen Wella Company’s board in steering the company into its “next chapter.”

This past spring, OPI celebrated its 45th anniversary.
